Position Information:
Full-time Support Staff Position Opportunity
Payband: Band I; Starting Rate: $40.39; Four Year Rate: $46.64
Department: Communications + Marketing
Hours: 35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri (shift hours are 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; evening and weekend work is required)
Reporting To: Manager, Student Recruitment
Campus Location: Oshawa (frequent travel within GTA and province is required)

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager, Student Recruitment, the Student Recruitment Officer implements the institution’s domestic student recruitment plan as defined by Durham College’s Strategic Enrolment Management framework.
The role of the Student Recruitment Officer is to develop and implement a comprehensive recruiting program geared to direct from secondary school and mature student audiences, to meet college application and enrolment targets for full-time programs. This includes scheduling with assigned secondary schools, developing partnerships and liaising with stakeholders and community agencies; maintaining and presenting up-to-date knowledge of the full-time programs and services of the college.
The incumbent collaborates with the student recruitment team to develop and customize content for presentations, brochures, and webinars, with the goal of generating prospective student leads to meet application and enrolment goals.
Sales, Marketing and Client Support:
Implements student recruitment strategies and outreach initiatives that support domestic application, conversion, and enrolment goals for direct and non-direct audiences.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of Durham College programs, pathways, admissions requirements, student supports, and career outcomes.
Develops and maintains strategic relationships with secondary schools, school boards, guidance counsellors, agencies and community partners within assigned student recruitment territories.
Provides accurate and up-to-date information on programs, admissions and general college information to a diverse range of prospective students, including those from secondary schools, adult learning and employment centres, and community partners.
Coordinates and participates in system-wide student recruiting activities such as the College Information Program (CIP), Eastern Region Panels (ERP), College Dialogues, high school visits, and servicing a diverse range of community agencies.
Coordinate all travel arrangements for rental vehicles, insurance, and accommodations.
Develop and conduct community presentations for recruitment purposes as requested by secondary schools, community partners, and special interest groups. Liaising with stakeholders by providing promotional materials and information.
Develop, lead and support student recruitment outreach activities, including on-campus tours, community visits, open houses, information webinars, and guidance counsellor and teacher engagement initiatives, while collaborating with the college’s academic and service departments to enhance the guest experience.
Collaborate with Marketing, Admissions, Academic Faculties, and Student Services to support student recruitment and promotional initiatives.
Represent Durham College at regional, provincial, and sector committees, events, and partnership initiatives to strengthen external relationships and institutional visibility. (e.g., Ontario School Counselors Association, College Registration, and Admissions & Liaison Officers, Eastern Region).
Maintain knowledge of all full-time programs and services by liaising with Deans, Program Coordinators and department leads.
Provide timely and accurate customer support related to program selection and how to apply, through email, phone, online meeting platforms, Live Chat and one-on-one appointments
Administration
Document, track and assess ongoing activities and contribute to reporting requirement to ensure alignment with student recruitment strategies.
Support in-person and digital recruitment initiatives by coordinating the planning, set-up, registration.
Maintains accurate prospect and applicant records within the CRM (Salesforce) and conducts timely lead nurturing, follow-up communications, and conversion activities and tracking year-over-year progress.
Utilizes recruitment data available through Ontario College Application Services (OCAS) and the CRM tool, Salesforce to provide timely and accurate reporting to evaluate outreach effectiveness and inform recruitment planning.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a three-year diploma or degree in marketing, public relations, human resources, advertising, business, sales or employment counselling.
A valid Class G Driver’s license in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle is required to fulfill the duties of this role. Must be able to travel within Ontario using own vehicle.
A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in post-secondary student recruitment, student advising/counselling or in a marketing, public relations, sales environment.
Excellent oral and public speaking skills and superior writing ability.
Strong organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop rapport and form positive customer sales relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
The ability to work independently, to establish and meet priorities and exercise good judgement.
An understanding of the provincial education system, current issues and related trends and legislation at the Provincial and Ministry level through to boards of education as required.
A thorough understanding of career, labour market, economic and social trends as they relate to post-secondary education in Ontario.
Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRMS), Salesforce is an asset.
Proficiency in using Microsoft office suite and email applications.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
