Scope (Purpose)

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications, the Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and executing strategic internal and external communications initiatives that advance Conexus Nuclear Inc.'s business objectives, stakeholder engagement priorities, and corporate reputation.

The incumbent serves as a trusted communications partner to leaders and subject matter experts across the organization, providing strategic communications advice, developing integrated communication plans, and leading the delivery of high-impact communications programs and campaigns. The role is accountable for creating compelling content and storytelling that promotes the value of Conexus, its members, services, programs, and industry contributions while strengthening employee engagement, member relationships, and organizational visibility.

Working collaboratively across departments, the Communications Specialist ensures communications are audience-focused, aligned with corporate priorities, and delivered through the most effective channels to support business outcomes and stakeholder engagement.

Key Accountabilities

Communications Planning & Execution: Develop and implement integrated communications strategies, plans, and campaigns that support organizational priorities, corporate initiatives, and stakeholder engagement objectives. Provide communications counsel and recommendations to internal stakeholders and project teams.

Project Coordination & Delivery: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple communications initiatives and projects simultaneously. Establish priorities, manage timelines, identify risks, and ensure communications deliverables are completed effectively and on schedule.

Stakeholder Engagement & Corporate Communications: Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, members, and external stakeholders to develop communication approaches that enhance awareness, engagement, and understanding of organizational initiatives. Foster strong relationships that support effective communication and collaboration.

Content Development & Storytelling: Research, develop, edit, and oversee the production of strategic communications materials across multiple platforms, including executive communications, member communications, thought leadership content, media materials, presentations, website content, social media, newsletters, and digital campaigns. Ensure consistency of messaging, brand standards, and organizational voice

General Responsibilities

Manage multiple communications projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.

Apply project management principles to coordinate communications deliverables and support successful project execution.

Manage communications materials through established review and approval processes.

Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, accessibility standards, and organizational requirements, including AODA and CASL.

Assist with measuring, evaluating, and reporting on the effectiveness of communications activities and stakeholder engagement efforts.

Develop visual and digital content for communication channels, including web, social media, presentations, and other platforms.

Maintain and update communications content across various channels to ensure information remains accurate, relevant, and current.

Build effective working relationships with employees, members, stakeholders, and external partners.

Stay informed on industry trends, communications best practices, and emerging technologies.

Adhere to all Conexus policies, procedures, and governance requirements.

Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Post-secondary education in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, marketing, corporate communications, or a related field.

Experience developing and implementing communications plans and initiatives in a multi-stakeholder environment.

Experience creating and editing a variety of communications materials, including digital, social media, web, and executive communications.

Experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience translating complex or technical information into clear, audience-focused communications.

Experience using digital communication platforms and content creation tools, including Microsoft Office and presentation software.

Familiarity with the nuclear industry or other highly technical industries.

Experience with visual communications, social media, video, and digital content creation.

Experience using design platforms such as Canva.

Experience preparing presentations and communications for senior executives.

Knowledge of accessibility and communications compliance requirements (e.g., AODA, CASL).

Work Environment

This role is based at the Conexus office in Toronto with the opportunity to work remotely 1-3 days per week.
