ESG Data Analyst Internship

This 3-month internship is perfect for someone who enjoys turning complex data into actionable insights and drive impactful business decisions. You will dive deep into energy, water, and waste consumption across our diverse portfolio, leveraging PowerBI, Microsoft Co-Pilot and AI tools. You will not only analyze trends but also uncover the underlying reasons for variances, considering the dynamic realities of hotel operations, such as changing opening periods, guest occupancy rates, temperature fluctuations, and renovation activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Reviewing data across the Belmond portfolio, against recognized regional benchmarks on EarthCheck’s Platform and against wider industry data sources such as World Sustainability Hospitality Alliance and Cornell University’s Hotel Sustainability Benchmark tool

Working closely with the Director of Operations Support and Sustainability to identify gaps in operational data and build out a database of sustainability actions by property.

Reviewing sustainability reports across the industry sector to identify the set of data points that should be included in our strategic reporting for 2026

Codifying the methodology behind creation of the quarterly insights report.

Collating comparative indicators that translate complex emissions and water consumption data into clear compelling statistics for team engagement.

Analysis of environmental and social impact data, extracting key insights and recommending actions that drive swift performance improvement.

Produce high quality, engaging written and visual communications to gather information efficiently and in a timely manner from teams on properties.

Prepare materials and activities for sustainability related presentations and activations with universities and schools.

Your curiosity and analytical expertise will be unlock new insights to drive action and deliver greater environmental and social impact.

Requirements

Comfortable working with data and apply analytical skills to real-world business and sustainability challenges.

Demonstrated experience using Excel and Power BI to support data-driven decision-making.

Experience conducting analytical work.

Strong interest in ESG, sustainability, and the use of data to support reporting, insights, and strategic initiatives.
