About the Role
We’re searching for the next valued member of the TCCD team to help deliver the next phase of our growth journey. This is a critical role in our business: you’ll take ownership of national customer relationships and drive commercial outcomes across Australia’s independent grocery ecosystem — including national wholesalers and banner groups. You’ll lead joint business planning, promotions, and category initiatives that grow distribution, share of shelf, and ROI to achieve our revenue, spend and market share goals.

You’ll report to the National Business Manager and collaborate with customers, Procter and Gamble and our dedicated independent field team that covers 800+ of the top independent stores nationally
What You'll Be Working On:
National customer management for independent grocery: own the customer plan, calendar, and pipeline across Metcash and key banner groups
Annual & quarterly JBPs: targets, distribution, promotions, displays, and new product launches
Promotional strategy & ROI: brief, negotiate, and review campaigns; optimize trade spend and mechanics
Category development: planograms, shelf principles, merchandising standards, and path‑to‑purchase initiatives with the support of our category manager
Forecasting: revenue and spend planning with Finance; manage risks and opportunities
Field execution: partner with operations team to deliver flawless instore execution
Core Responsibilities (Must‑Have Skills)
Deliver Gross sales, trade spend and market share targets for your national category portfolio
Negotiate pricing, and promotional programs; manage accruals, claims, and investment ROI
Build trusted, long‑term relationships with buying teams; be the voice of the customer internally
Use modern commercial tools (Microsoft 365/Copilot, tableau, analytics dashboards) to make faster, smarter decisions
Partner cross‑functionally (Field operations, Finance, Client, Supply) to resolve issues fast and unlock growth
Stretch Responsibilities (Bonus Skills)
Lead retailer specific category projects and co-develop end to end category solution programs with customers
Pilot AI enhanced account planning
Coach broader TCCD team members, both HQ and field on execution priorities.
Who You Are:
Essential
Values driven, proactive, hands on; thrives in an agile, small company environment
A willingness to learn, you may not have all the skills from day 1 but are open to feedback and have a learning mindset
Strong commercial acumen: P&L understanding, pricing, mix management, trade spend optimization
Experience working with field sales teams and retail execution
3+ years in Key account management
Negotiation experience across JBPs, ranging, and promotions
Comfortable with data (Excel/Power BI) and modern tools (Microsoft 365, Copilot)
Ability to prioritise in a complex environment
Bonus
Experience with national wholesalers and banner groups within independent grocery
Formal category management training
Exposure to AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to streamline workflows, and insight generation
