About the role
The company is seeking a Title Abstractor Landman to report to, and work directly with, the project management team. We have an immediate need for an available landman to start ASAP on an initial project in Adams County. While a significant portion of county records (1900 to present) are available online, this project will require a brief, on-site courthouse presence to review physical records. Pending the successful and timely completion of the Adams County work, the scope of the project is expected to. The individual will be responsible for complex mineral and title research while maintaining production goals and deadlines. The overall purpose of the role will be to provide the client with the thorough research they need to proceed with their operational objectives.
Responsibilities
Run complete chains of title on an initial project scope in Adams County.
Research county records to determine surface and mineral ownership by utilizing online databases (1900 to present) and traveling to the local county courthouse to review physical records as needed.
Transition to running title in Scioto County upon successful completion of the initial Adams County project.
Analyze and document research results to select the relevant information to input into comprehensive reports and runsheets for submission to the client.
Meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities in an environment with shifting timeframes.
Contribute to other duties assigned by management and determined by business needs.
Mandatory Requirements
Immediate availability to begin work on the Adams County project.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex title/mineral research.
Curative experience.
Ability and willingness to utilize online indices and travel to Adams County for short-term courthouse research
Juris Doctorate or a degree in Energy Management may be substituted, but must be accompanied with sufficient job-related experience.
Ability to meet specific deadlines, daily and weekly, based on current internal and client needs.
Ability to work as an independent contractor with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of management and clients (in writing and verbally).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; specifically, Excel and Word.
Experience with Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
AAPL membership.
Bachelor’s degree.
Juris Doctorate.
Degree in Energy Management/Commerce.
