About the role
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our growing New Jersey Highways & Traffic Engineering team! The primary focus will be supporting NJ infrastructure projects. We are seeking candidates for our Hamilton office.
Our infrastructure design professionals undertake projects ranging in all sizes and complexities, providing conceptual planning, alignment studies, and preparing contract documents for construction of improvements to local and county roadway networks, and state and interstate highways. We develop alternative improvement plans to balance project costs with other factors including environmental, utility and property impacts.
Apply diversified engineering principles and practices to support highway and roadway engineering operations.
Take the lead on technical design tasks, including design development and preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, calculations, design reports, and construction documents.
Develop roadway, sidewalk, and intersection designs, including roundabouts, traffic signals, interchanges, and other highway infrastructure.
Perform QA/QC on work developed by drafters and design engineers and may serve as the quality coordinator for discipline-led projects.
Coordinate project tasks across multiple internal disciplines and, when appropriate, serve as a point of contact for clients, design partners, and contractors.
Assist in training, mentoring, and developing staff, acting as a resource for technical questions and providing delegation and supervision to design engineers.
Support basic project management tasks such as staffing planning, scope and proposal development, scheduling, and budgeting, appropriate to experience level.
Attend project meetings and participate in client and public presentations as needed.
Demonstrate a willingness to adapt and grow through continuous learning and professional development.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
6+ years of infrastructure engineering design experience required; drainage experience is a plus.
PE license required.
Previous software experience with MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads Designer, and/or Civil 3D is a plus.
Interest in developing, coaching, and mentoring junior staff.
Familiarity of working with NJ Counties is a plus.
Previous NJDOT, NJTA or locally administered Federal Aid Project experience is a plus
Active membership of a professional practice organization or willing to join is encouraged.
Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $106,575 to $141,645 per year (depending on qualifications)
