Hair Salon Assistant

Job Overview Join our vibrant and dynamic team as a Hair Salon Assistant, where your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a welcoming environment for clients and support our talented stylists. This is a Part-time position and MUST be available to work on Friday and Saturdays to start from 10am to 2pm.

In this role, we are seeking for a motivated and outgoing personality salon assistant to join our team at Glamor Hair Studio in Mission Hills. This is a training position to potentially grow within the salon and transition onto the salon floor through either booth rental or commision opportunities.

You will be the heartbeat of the salon, ensuring smooth daily operations, exceptional customer service, and a clean, organized space. Your energy and attention to detail will contribute to delivering outstanding hair care experiences that leave clients feeling confident and beautiful.

Responsibilities

Greet clients warmly upon arrival, assist with check-in and appointment scheduling using salon software.

Support stylists with hair styling, hair extensions and services as needed

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards across the salon, including tools, stations, and common areas

Manage front desk duties including answering phones, booking appointments, and processing retail sales with retail math skills

Assist with retail sales of hair products, makeup, skincare items, and accessories through effective upselling techniques

Prepare clients for services by providing consultations on color theory, hair treatments, or styling options

Support store management in inventory tracking and replenishment of supplies

Requirements

Passion for the beauty industry with a strong interest in hair styling, barbering, cosmetology or related fields

Basic knowledge of salon software systems such as MINDBODY or similar platforms

Familiarity with sanitation protocols and maintaining a hygienic environment

Excellent communication skills to engage with clients and team members effectively

Ability to perform retail sales and upselling to enhance client experience and salon revenue

Experience or interest in learning advanced techniques like color application is a plus

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
