Human Resources Manager
About the role
Role: To provide Mt Olive church and preschool with ministry-focused human resource support for its staff, and to maintain 501c3 policy and employment compliance. Provides assistance and guidance with various HR practices while demonstrating integrity, fairness, and discretion in maintaining confidentiality and fostering accountability and care.
This will strictly be a human resources role and will not need to participate in day-to-day ministry or bi-monthly staff meetings.
Hours: Part-time, 2-5 hours per week, with additional flex hours available for annual tasks as needed, not to exceed 20 hours per month. Flex/seasonal hours will be tracked and billed in quarter-hour increments, similar to legal/contract professional billing.
Compensation: $31-$40 per hour
Functions:
Weekly
Manage HR email account
Be comfortable with Google Suite (for internal communications and document creation)
Approx 2 hours on-site presence per week (to handle core responsibilities and be available to staff to discuss matters in person.
Up to 3 additional flexible hours per week (if needed) to address items that arise outside of scheduled office time.
Regularly
Payroll data entry (through our Paychex system)
Make any changes to payroll system that staff might have, such as new hires, terminations, 403B changes, rate changes, any benefit changes, etc.
PTO administration/tracking
Employee files/records management
Work with Director of Church Operations to manage HR calendar
Confidentiality (24/7)
Occasionally
Employee relations - situational counseling/grievances/difficult conversations
Corrective actions/PIPs/terminations support
HR compliance & employment law guidance (handbook, policies, trainings)
Ensure all required notices are posted and up-to-date in appropriate workspaces

Recruiting & Hiring assistance
Onboarding & offboarding support
Responsible for health benefit renewals, claims and updates (Sept-Dec)
September-December — assist staff through benefits renewals/Open Enrollment updates, pricing and deadlines.
October/November—work with directors to get new rates for building insurance, Workers Comp and PS Accident Policy.
Performance Review support (October)
Run background checks on new church workers/volunteers as needed.
May include assistance working with Accounting Administrator and/or Preschool Director on issues with Texas state licensing, the Texas District LCMS office, Texas Employment Commission, workers compensation insurance, Childcare Relief with TWC, and PPP loans.
Any other related HR responsibilities that may arise.
Pay: $31.00 - $40.00 per hour
