Annual Salary Pay Range: $65,000 to $75,000

Position Purpose

The Benefits & HR Generalist will support the delivery of comprehensive Human Resources and Benefits programs and services for a growing renewable energy organization. This hands-on role is responsible for benefits administration, employee support, onboarding and offboarding activities, leave administration, HR operations, and assisting employees and managers with HR-related questions and processes.

The ideal candidate will have prior benefits administration experience combined with broad HR generalist knowledge and a strong customer service mindset. This position will collaborate closely with the HR Manager and HR Director while serving as a key point of contact for employees across multiple locations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the administration and day-to-day operation of employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and leave programs.

Respond to employee questions regarding benefits, HR policies, leave of absence, onboarding, offboarding, and general HR matters, routing items to the appropriate internal resources when needed.

Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire documentation, orientation support, system updates, and separation procedures.

Administer Leave of Absence programs for multi-state employee populations, ensuring compliance with FMLA, ADA, and applicable state regulations.

Maintain HR and benefits records in accordance with company policies and federal, state, and local legal requirements.

Assist in the efficient administration of HR programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives, providing recommendations for process improvements where appropriate.

Support employee communication efforts regarding benefit offerings, HR programs, company updates, and policy changes through email, meetings, and other communication channels.

Assist with benefits open enrollment activities and employee education initiatives.

Coordinate with benefit vendors and assist with reviewing invoices for accuracy and completeness.

Provide administrative and operational support to the HR Manager and HR Director.

Assist with employee events, engagement activities, and office functions.

Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee information.

Perform additional HR-related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurement

Performance will be assessed six months after initial hire and annually thereafter. The role will be evaluated based on service quality, responsiveness, accuracy, compliance, employee support, process efficiency, collaboration, and overall contribution to California Bioenergy, LLC goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Professional certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, CEBS, or related HR certification preferred.

3–5 years of Human Resources experience with strong benefits administration experience required.

Experience supporting onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, and general HR operations.

Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and benefits administration practices.

Experience with multi-state HR administration, preferably including California.

Advanced knowledge of ADP Workforce Now preferred.

Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
