About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Human Resources with corporate and union experience to lead our HR initiatives and shape organizational culture. The incumbent will align business objectives with employees and management to meet the needs of the vision and direction of the company. The Director of Human Resources serves as a trusted advisor and consultant to the President & CEO and Leadership Team on Human Resource related issues, including but not limited to legal compliance, staffing, compensation, benefits, policy development / management, employee relations, organizational employee development and training, and union management. Responsibilities include assessing and anticipating HR–related needs, communicating needs appropriately and seeking information and resources to develop and provide integrated solutions. Formulates partnerships across the company to deliver value added service to key stakeholders that reflect the business objectives, vision and values of the company. Essential functions are below.
· Supports Company in the development and delivery of strategic HR plans which align with the overall business direction.
· Provides strategic guidance to leadership on HR initiatives and organizational development.
· Oversees, evaluates, and manages the human resources function of the company.
· Leads the employee recruitment and on boarding process in all locations, ensuring the process is aligned with developing state and federal legal requirements.
· Maintains management guidelines and policies by preparing, updating, and recommending human resources policies. Ensures HR compliance across all areas of the Company.
· Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders, fostering trust and promoting collaboration.
· Manages confidential matters with discretion.
· Partners with managers to determine staffing needs.
· Screens resumes, interviews candidates (phone and/or in person) and make recommendations for referral/hire.
· Works with hiring managers to ensure compliance with all federal/state labor laws and regulations.
· Provides leadership and oversight for payroll operations, including supervision of payroll staff, review of payroll controls, compliance monitoring, and coordination with Finance and external service providers.
· Exercises independent judgment within broadly defined parameters.
· Consults with business regarding competitive pay practices.
· Oversees the development and update of the Salary Administration and Bonus Plans.
· Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
· Maintains in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
· Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to managers (coaching, counseling, career development, corrective actions).
· Provide leadership and oversight for payroll operations, including supervision of payroll staff, review of payroll controls, compliance monitoring, and coordination with Finance and external service providers.
· Ensures all policies and processes are documented and current.
· Continues with future development, implementation, and ensuring the Company’s education and training system is effective for both the employees and the Company. Ensures the use of all tools, including the global corporate training center.
· Performs Company bench marking in areas of training, compensation and benefits, and other key factors. Uses this information to drive improvement in the Human Resource’s function.
· Meets and interacts with civic groups and community leaders who could impact company functions and reputation.
· Maintains close interaction with President & CEO, General Counsel, CFO, and other key leadership team members.
Job Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in a business-related course of study preferred.
· Human Resources certification is required.
· Extensive knowledge of benefits, recruiting and workforce planning, federal and multi-state employment laws, benefits and salary administration guidelines, compensation and incentive plan structures.
· Organizational design and development methods and tools; performance management, talent development, team development talent acquisition and retention methods and tools.
· Collective Bargaining Agreements and Unionization
Required Experience:
· Minimum of ten years human resources experience or equivalent.
· Experience with multiple human resource disciplines including compensation, employment/recruiting, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, workforce diversity, performance management, employee development / training, and federal and state respective employment (all related HR) laws.
· Collective Bargaining Agreements and Union Negotiations.

· Computer proficiency with MS Office and internet-search engines.
· Must have strong Excel skills.
Must have the ability to travel 25% to 50%
Pay: $140,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
