About the role
We are seeking a Microsoft Software Development Engineer (SDE) with strong Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) experience and complementary exposure to Azure Synapse Analytics and Power BI.
This role focuses on building and supporting high quality, scalable enterprise solutions across core ERP, data, and analytics platforms.
The ideal candidate combines hands on X++ and F&O development expertise with a solid understanding of data movement, analytics enablement, and reporting consumption, partnering closely with functional, data, and BI teams.
Key Responsibilities
Dynamics 365 F&O Development
Design, develop, and maintain custom extensions and integrations in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations following Microsoft and enterprise best practices
Develop X++ solutions including business logic extensions, workflows, batch jobs, services, and data entities
Support ERP integration, data conversions, and system enhancements using supported extension patterns
Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production support activities
Azure Synapse & Data Platform Support
Contribute to Azure Synapse Analytics workloads that enable reporting and analytics downstream from D365 F&O
Support data pipelines that move and transform ERP data into Azure Data Lake and Synapse SQL Pools
Collaborate with data and BI teams to ensure ERP data is structured, performant, and consumable for analytics use cases
Assist with performance tuning, monitoring, and reliability of Synapse based data solutions
Power BI & Reporting Enablement
Partner with reporting teams to enable Power BI datasets and models sourced from F&O and Synapse
Support semantic layer design, data modeling considerations, and performance troubleshooting
Ensure accurate, timely, and trusted financial and operational reporting
Data Access and Integration
Exposure to business events/azure service bus queues, and REST/SOAP/OData/Graph experience.
Experience building out data integration via middleware or IPaaS
Collaboration & Delivery
Work closely with Business Analysts and Functional Consultants to translate business requirements into technical designs
Produce clear technical documentation including design specifications and deployment artifacts
Participate in agile delivery ceremonies and DevOps based release processes
Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support and participate in root cause analysis and remediation
Required Qualifications
Technical
Hands on experience developing in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations / AX
Proficiency in X++, Visual Studio, and the D365 extension and build lifecycle
Working knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics and data warehouse / data lake concepts
Solid SQL skills and understanding of relational data modeling
Analytics & Reporting
Experience supporting or enabling Power BI reporting solutions
Familiarity with ERP sourced data used for financial and operational analytics
Professional
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in an enterprise environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Synapse Pipelines, or Azure Data Factory
Exposure to enterprise finance, supply chain, or manufacturing business processes
Power Platform or Power Automate experience supporting ERP workflows
Microsoft certifications in Dynamics 365, Azure, or data engineering
Experience supporting global or multi entity ERP environments
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, finance, or management information systems and 5 years related work experience.
Knowledge & Experience
Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data modeling.
Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products (preferably Dynamics D365 F&O)
Proven experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies.
Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts.
Ability to create systematic and manual operations procedures in both technical and user-friendly language.
Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required.
Working technical knowledge of programming languages.
Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
Working knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
Extensive experience with core software applications, including D365, ADP, Medius, OneStream, Adyen, Payment Providers, Stripe and Avalara.
