Job Summary:

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) serves as the trusted technology advisor and single point of contact for one or more key lines of business within the Technology & Operations. This role ensures that the IT strategy, digital initiatives, and technology solutions directly support the CIO/business unit's objectives, compliance requirements, and operational goals. The TAM partners with CIO and multiple Engineering department stakeholders to align technical capabilities to business strategies, facilitate solution delivery, and drive value realization across products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary technology liaison between different Engineering pillars and assigned line(s) of business (e.g., Retail Banking, Commercial Lending, Wealth Management, Capital Markets).

Understand the LOB’s strategy, processes, regulatory landscape, and technology pain points to guide technical decisions.

Partner with CIO/business unit leadership and product owners to develop roadmaps and technology enablement strategies that support business outcomes.

Act as a technical advocate and escalation point for service delivery, incident management, and change coordination within the assigned business unit.

Translate business requirements into technical specifications and collaborate with different engineering departments, infrastructure, and solution architecture teams to deliver effective solutions.

Monitor and report on service performance, compliance adherence, and project status specific to the line of business CIO.

Ensure that all implemented solutions follow enterprise security, risk, and compliance frameworks, particularly regarding financial regulations (e.g., SOX, PCI, FINRA, OSFI).

Support digital transformation initiatives, cloud migrations, or FinTech integrations relevant to the CIO business domain.

Conduct regular health checks and CIO business reviews with stakeholders, identifying opportunities for optimization or innovation.

Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams, including vendors and third-party service providers, to ensure end-to-end accountability for solution delivery.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

5+ years of experience in technical account management, enterprise IT consulting, or solution delivery in the financial services industry.

Deep understanding of the financial services domain and one or more LOBs (e.g., banking operations, investment platforms, insurance systems).

Strong knowledge of enterprise IT architecture, software development lifecycle, data management, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), and cybersecurity practices.

Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Experience managing service-level agreements (SLAs), vendor relationships, and IT compliance standards.

Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

Certifications: ITIL, PMP, TOGAF, AWS/Azure Certified Solutions Architect, or similar.

Familiarity with financial regulations and frameworks (e.g., Basel III, MiFID II, GDPR, SOC 2).

Experience with Agile or DevOps methodologies.

Success Metrics:

Business satisfaction and trust with IT services.

Alignment of technology initiatives to business goals and KPIs.

Reduction in service disruptions and technical debt in assigned LOB.

Acceleration of digital adoption and time-to-market for business initiatives.

Salary :

$112,200.00 - $209,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
