Job Description

As a Data Science Intern, you will work closely with planners and merchandisers to modernize reporting, automate recurring processes, and develop analytical tools that directly support business decisions.

This internship offers strong exposure to real business use cases, large datasets, and end-to-end analytical projects, from understanding business needs to delivering usable solutions.

Key responsibilities:

Design, build and maintain automated reports and dashboards for sales, stock, margin and performance monitoring

Simplify, optimize and partially replace complex Excel-based tools using Python, SQL or BI solutions

Automate recurring workflows such as:

Data extraction, transformation and consolidation

Weekly/monthly business reports

PowerPoint presentations used for internal reviews and management meetings

Support the improvement of forecasting and demand planning tools, including:

Sales forecasts

Inventory projections

Scenario simulations

Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies and performance drivers across B2B and B2C channels

Collaborate closely with business teams to translate operational needs into analytical solutions

Document tools and processes to ensure scalability and knowledge sharing

Potential additional projects (depending on skills & interests)

Development of basic forecasting or machine learning models (time series, regression, clustering, etc.)

Creation of standardized datasets and data models for planning use cases

Performance comparison between forecast vs actuals

Optimization of assortment or stock allocation logic

Introduction of version control, code structure and best practices in analytics workflows

Qualifications

Profile:

Student in Data Science, Engineering or Applied Mathematics (e.g. ESILV or equivalent)

Strong analytical mindset with a clear interest in business and retail / fashion / sports environments

Comfortable working with data and imperfect systems

Curious, proactive and solution-oriented

English: fluent (C1)

Technical skills:

Strong knowledge of Python (pandas, numpy, matplotlib / seaborn, etc.)

Advanced Excel skills (power user level)

Basic knowledge of SQL is a plus

Experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar BI tools is a strong plus

Interest in automation, optimization and forecasting techniques

PowerPoint automation or reporting experience is a plus

Additional Information

Contract: Internship agreement with your school (mandatory)

Internship location: Annecy

Duration: 6 months

Internship start date: end of August or beginning of September 2026

At Salomon, internship compensation is structured as follows:

Internship allowance:

High school diploma to Bachelor’s degree (up to Bac +3): €700 gross

Master’s level (Bac +4/+5): €950 gross

PhD: €1,200 gross

Housing allowance:

€300 housing assistance, upon presentation of a rental lease located within 50 km of the headquarters, along with monthly rent receipts.
