About the role

Who we are

We are a high-growth tech startup, located in Toronto, helping travellers all over the world. At Sherpa, our mission is to help travellers move freely around the world, and shift the way the world's leading travel providers think about borders. We are enabling travel companies to regain trust in international travel by providing travellers with accurate information, and building the next border crossing experience. We are looking for team members who are excited about our mission, committed to personal growth, and excited to take ownership of their work.

We are focused on creating a positive working environment. We have quarterly team events, bi-weekly social activities and offer attractive compensation, including equity participation and benefits.

What we're looking for

As a Product Designer, you'll join a cross-functional team helping travellers cross borders. You’ll be working on creating the most delightful visa application experience for international travellers. You’ll focus on truly customer-centric design thinking and a demonstrable expertise in visualizing both digital and physical touchpoint solutions that support traveller’s journey. You’ll have passion for collaborating closely with partners (airlines, travel agents etc) and leaders across the organization to refine our thinking and best serve our customers.

Your work will be seen by millions of travellers a month from 193 countries. You will make travel simpler for passengers of national carriers like American Airlines, Air Canada, British Airways and more. It's an exciting design challenge.

What you can expect

Work closely with product managers, engineers and customer support to improve the traveller's user experience.

Demonstrate attention to detail in every aspect and a strong capacity for both logical and creative thinking. You are also comfortable dealing with ambiguous requirements that require creative investigation.

Crafting user interfaces in Figma and building prototypes (traditional and AI) to show the end to end user experience.

Participate in various stages of the design lifecycle: from ideation to research, prototyping, validation, and design.

Partner with Product Managers to rapidly validate concepts prior to development.

You are a good fit if you

Have 5-8+ years of experience working in a product design role

Have a portfolio that proves real visual range across brand and product, not tidy-but-flat work

Have shipped complex flows from discovery through iteration, and can walk through the messy decisions, not just the polished result.

Have a keen eye for usability and accessibility

Demonstrated experience working on projects from discovery through to shipping/iteration

You are a driver who takes ownership of ensuring a rewarding experience is being delivered to our users

Present one or more case studies that showcase your impact on the product

Expected skills

Demonstrate basic design system principles and practices

Fluent in Figma, and comfortable with AI design tools (Claude, Figma Make, and similar).

Prototyping for desktop and mobile experiences

Clear, compelling presentation and communication style

What we offer

Competitive base salary

Comprehensive benefits

Early-stage stock options

4 weeks' vacation (Moving towards unlimited vacation plan)

Flexibility to work from home or office

Learning and development fund

The starting base pay will depend on various factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.

Compensation Range: CA$100K - CA$150K
