Contribute to shaping the future of the Komatsu underground mining business in Australia

At Komatsu, we work closely with our customers to maximise performance across the full lifecycle of their assets. As the Queensland underground coal market continues to evolve, we are seeking a commercially astute and technically credible Account Manager to strengthen customer relationships, enhance our market position, and drive sustainable growth.

What you'll bring.

Experience in account or service management within underground mining or heavy industry

Strong understanding of underground coal equipment (e.g. continuous miners, shuttle cars, feeder breakers, longwalls)

Proven ability to grow customer portfolios and deliver commercial outcomes

Ability to operate across operational and strategic conversations with customers

Experience working across multiple business functions to deliver cohesive outcomes

Confidence using CRM systems (ideally, Salesforce) to manage pipelines and customer insights

Critical skills for success.

Business acumen. Develop and execute clear, data-driven account strategies aligned to Queensland’s evolving mining landscape, driving revenue growth, market share and profitability. Identify opportunities across equipment, parts, and lifecycle services to maximise customer value and Komatsu return. Analyse market dynamics, competitor activity, and mine ownership changes to inform strategic decisions.

Hunter Mentality. Identify opportunities to establish Komatsu as the partner of choice. Identify and convert new opportunities within existing and emerging underground coal operations. Build and maintain a strong opportunity pipeline, taking ownership of end-to-end deal progression

Leadership. Act as the primary point of accountability for the customer relationship, driving outcomes across both operational and commercial priorities. Lead internal stakeholders to align on customer needs and deliver a consistent, high performing, ‘one face to customer’ approach.

Collaboration. Work cross-functionally with operations, service, parts, engineering, and product teams to deliver integrated, customer-focused solutions. Draw on internal expertise to resolve complex operational challenges and improve customer outcomes.

Agility and adaptability. Respond effectively to changing customer requirements, evolving site conditions, and shifting market dynamics. Operate confidently in complex, fast-paced environments while balancing immediate operational priorities with longer-term strategic objectives.

Application of knowledge. Lead informed discussions on equipment performance, reliability, and lifecycle management to deliver measurable customer and commercial outcomes.

What to expect.

Regular travel across Queensland to customer sites, with time spent both in the field and with operational teams

A high degree of autonomy, with accountability for managing and growing your portfolio

Ongoing multi-level engagement with both frontline and senior customer stakeholders

Close collaboration across service, parts, engineering, and product teams

A balance of immediate operational priorities and long-term account strategy
