Position Summary
The Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as the primary technical authority for electrical power and control systems supporting mission-critical data center operations. Reporting to the Data Center Manager, this role ensures safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical infrastructure, including UPS systems, switchgear, low- and medium-voltage distribution, and control systems. The SME provides leadership in maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and documentation while driving alignment between Salute, client teams, and third-party vendors to ensure world-class reliability and performance across all electrical systems.
This is an on-site position located in Afton, TX, with relocation assistance available.
Salary: $122,004 - $152,505

Responsibilities
Technical Expertise & Program Leadership
Serve as the onsite technical resource for all electrical infrastructure systems and equipment, emphasizing practical field operation and safety.
Lead or approve the development of SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs related to electrical systems and procedures.
Support the design, testing, and maintenance of low- and medium-voltage power distribution, UPS, and battery systems.
Oversee electrical troubleshooting, retrofits, and maintenance activities, ensuring strict adherence to change management and safety standards.
Review and validate electrical system configurations, upgrades, and modifications for integrity and risk mitigation.
Provide QA/QC oversight for construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities related to electrical systems.
Plan and manage projects related to infrastructure improvement, capacity upgrades, and reliability optimization.
Collaborate with mechanical and operations teams to ensure coordinated maintenance and fault response activities.
Compliance, Quality, & Continuous Improvement
Maintain compliance with applicable NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and IEEE standards, ensuring all work meets or exceeds regulatory and client requirements.
Contribute to the ongoing electrical safety program, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energized work protocols.
Conduct or oversee site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, producing detailed reports and action plans.
Analyze incident trends, perform root cause analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Review and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and as-built documentation to ensure operational accuracy.
Support design and QA/QC reviews for new or modified electrical systems, including load studies, fault coordination, and system protection analysis.
Evaluate and recommend emerging electrical technologies or monitoring tools to improve uptime and energy efficiency.
Training, Collaboration, & Stakeholder Support
Provide training and mentorship to Critical Facilities Engineers (CFEs) and other operations staff on electrical safety, system operation, and troubleshooting.
Develop and maintain internal documentation and training materials for ongoing knowledge transfer.
Collaborate with client representatives and internal Salute teams to align procedures, safety programs, and reporting structures.
Participate in governance and performance meetings to review electrical system metrics and improvement initiatives.
Partner with vendors, OEMs, and engineering teams to resolve complex electrical issues and ensure cohesive operational support.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field required; equivalent trade or military experience may be considered.
7–10 years of experience with electrical systems design, maintenance, or operations in a mission-critical or industrial environment.
Proven ability to perform hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance of switchgear, UPS, and distribution systems.
Strong understanding of NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and industry safety standards.
Demonstrated ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and coordination studies.
Familiarity with SCADA systems, protective relays, power automation, and controls.
Certification in NETA, NICET, or equivalent electrical testing is preferred.
Licensed electrician or electrical trade certification is a plus.
Experience with commissioning, QA/QC, or field engineering for critical infrastructure projects.
Data center or utility-scale power distribution experience is strongly preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CMMS or maintenance tracking tools.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and safely navigate electrical and mechanical spaces during inspection or maintenance activities.
