Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for a motivated individual with strong payroll and share-based plan knowledge, with excellent organizational, analytic and technical skills to join our group of professionals based in Vancouver. This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Payroll.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate, track and manage the employee compensation program, such as manage the day-to-day administration of the company’s share-based programs and ensures that all share-based activity is accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner.
Deliver all aspects of long-term incentive (LTIP) transactions and other Share-Based compensation plans efficiently and accurately, including data management, recording and grant creation, vesting events, cancellations, terminations, processing payment of vested awards and exercises.
Maintain the integrity of all files and electronic databases related to the administration of all share-based compensation plans including (LTIP, Stock Options, DSUs etc.
Provide admin, system support to stakeholders (employee stock participants) as well as analytical and special project support to Manager, Payroll and above in relation to Share-Based Compensation dealings.
Provide support for quarterly dividend calculations and payments.
Liaise with other departments such as Legal, Benefits and Operations Department (Settlements, Securities, Transfers etc.) as needed pertaining to any share-based activities such as deliveries of shares.
Coordinate with Tax/Finance and Payroll Departments on matters related and confirm appropriate rates are applied on taxable events.
Assist Sr. Manager, Payroll with Workday projects and implementation initiatives for business process improvements. Will work alongside Workday Central Personnel and HR Workday Personnel
Preparation for and support of the company’s annual compensation cycle.
Analyze and Reconcile period-end payroll GL accounts/Loans etc. (investigate and resolve discrepancies)
Assist with both creation and review of documentation of payroll processes including (share-based compensation)
Assist with controls and auditing documentation and testing.
Assist in preparing and delivering various reporting or spreadsheets as needed, including ones requested by management.
Collaborate with members of the Payroll, Benefits and HR team.
Assist with mentoring junior payroll accounting personnel.
Assist with both processing and review of full-cycle semi-monthly payroll (as needed)
Perform ad hoc projects and other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Professional Certifications
Minimum of PCP Certification from National Payroll Institute
Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in payroll leadership and accounting, often in complex multi-provincial environments.
Certification and experience in stock plan administration is highly valued
Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret intricate labour laws and tax regulations.
Strong knowledge/technical skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
Advance Experience with major HRIS or Payroll Platforms such as (Workday, ADP etc.)
Positive Demeanor, Approachable, Resourceful and Solution Finder and has the confidence and ability to positively and assertively communicate with senior management.
Impeccable time management and organizational skills.
Adaptable to changes in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with positive mentality.
