Heavy Equipment Rental Operations Manager
About the role
The Rental Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the rental segment of the business. This position will work out of the corporate office located in Selma, TX.
Comp Package includes: Base salary + monthly bonus potential + truck allowance + 401k with 6% match + profit-sharing
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provides rental operational support to the branch locations
Manages and calculates the rental ops team MBO
Spearheads rental equipment transfers from branch to branch, including transport vendor negotiation
Primary trainer for rental operations team at the branch
Subject matter expert for quoting, reservations, unit status and operations reports in rental business system
Tracks status of big iron, driving availability.
Monitors turning individual units quickly & correct unit status
Sets major repair thresholds and manages major rental repair
Manages/onboards vendors & the PO process for rental fuel service, transport service
Makes improvements to rental operations for customer experience.
Conducts on the ground training and observation at branches, focusing on organization, tagging, and inspections
Skills and Experience
Minimum of 5+ years experience in the heavy equipment rental industry
Management experience preferred.
Strong understanding of all aspects and experience with rental business systems and other industry leading tools. Experience with Integrated Rental (IR) a plus.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly find opportunities for standardization, improvement and waste reduction
Ability to read, understand, and interpret vendor parts catalogs and technical information.
High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in creating and training operational processes.
Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and maintain a backlog of critical project.
Proficiency with computer systems, including inventory/order management software and common applications such as Microsoft Office.
Solid sales skills and the ability to teach those skills at the rental counter
Inventory management skills, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and conducting cycle counts.
Adaptability to remain effective in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively across divisions, sales, and fleet departments.
Travel up to 25%
