About the position
The Senior Learning Designer plays a key role in designing and delivering sustainable, accessible, and high-quality blended learning experiences across internal and externally funded projects. Working at the intersection of pedagogy, technology, and innovation, the role leads the development of evidence-based, scalable learning solutions that align with RMIT’s transformation agenda and support excellence in Vocational Education and Associate Degree programs. The position requires a strong understanding of contemporary learning design, digital learning technologies, and pedagogical approaches that enhance student engagement, experience, and outcomes across face-to-face and online learning environments.
Through collaborative co-design partnerships with academic and professional staff and external stakeholders, the Senior Learning Designer supports the creation of transformative curriculum, innovative learning activities, and high-quality learning resources that meet project objectives and learner needs. The role also contributes to strategic learning and teaching initiatives by leveraging emerging trends, sector intelligence, and best practices in vocational and technology-enhanced education, ensuring RMIT remains at the forefront of innovative and competitive educational delivery.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
Experience in learning and assessment design, digital pedagogies and educational innovation.
Skills and experience in instructional design and the development of HE/VE student-centred learning experiences and resources.
Deep knowledge of digital learning principles and practices, as well as current and future trends in digital learning technologies, including Canvas and Microsoft products.
Experience with the production of digital learning resources and multimedia objects.
Project management skills in coordinating multiple stakeholders, meeting timeframes and delivering outcomes.
Excellent communication skills and proven ability to secure the cooperation and engagement of a wide range of people within a complex environment.
Ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders to enable evidence-based outcomes in learning design.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications and proven experience in either a learning design role or experience as a teacher/trainer and assessor, and appropriate relevant industry experience.
