Project Manager - Civil
About the role
Gunter Construction Company is seeking an experienced and results-driven Construction Project Manager to lead and deliver high-quality civil construction projects—including dirt work, streetscapes. This role combines strategic project management with hands-on field supervision, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in civil construction management, excels at leading crews and subcontractors, and demonstrates strong skills in budget control, scheduling, and client communication.
Key Responsibilities
Lead pre-construction meetings to establish clear expectations across teams.
Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project or equivalent.
Monitor and forecast project costs, review/approve invoices, and maintain budget compliance.
Provide consistent progress updates to leadership and clients, identifying and mitigating risks.
Ensure project execution complies with MoDOT, KDOT, and KCMO standards.
Manage day-to-day field operations, ensuring productivity, quality, and schedule adherence.
Direct and coordinate subcontractors and crews, ensuring work aligns with plans, specs, and safety regulations.
Conduct and enforce job site safety plans, including daily toolbox talks and inspections.
Order and track materials and equipment to avoid delays and downtime.
Supervise site logistics, manpower, and equipment usage to maximize efficiency.
Coordinate effectively with city/state inspectors and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
Qualifications
Proven experience in civil construction project management and/or supervision.
Strong background in street rehabilitation, concrete paving, dirt work.
Proficiency in Bid2Win, Microsoft Excel
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Solid knowledge of KCMO, MoDOT, and KDOT specifications (preferred).
