About the role

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Testing and debugging of automation equipment while applying knowledge of engineering technology as necessary.

Programs, troubleshoots, and evaluates any design considerations on new, existing systems and equipment which will include maintaining a backup library of PLC, instrumentation software and electrical documentation.

Designs & implements engineering solutions that meet the project requirements while monitoring budget constraints to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency.

Preparation of project scope, cost justification and AFE (overall cost proposal) to senior management for approval as required.

Applies mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify production equipment.

Evaluates, selects, and coordinates with outside vendors for design, machining and fabrication of parts and systems.

Willingness to travel for projects on short notice including weekends – 70% Travel (typically 1-2weeks at a time)

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering

Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as Automation Engineer with focus on Siemens PLC’s

Expert level knowledge of Siemens Step7, TIA Portal, Safety ES, WinCC flexible & Advanced

Proficiency in designing controls systems.

Strong MS Office, AutoCAD Mechanical & Electrical, E-Plan

Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems.

Excellent analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills

Has the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional communication skills

Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 55 lbs. overhead

Ability to stand, crouch and climb to perform duties

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles

and outside weather conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud

The work environment can be very hot, over 90 degrees.

Vision: 20/20 corrected and normal hearing range
