Department Description:
The Geospatial Analytics team within Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence (AI2) provides consultative, data-driven solutions to support operational excellence, regulatory adherence, and performance optimization across TD’s branch network. The team partners closely with business stakeholders to transform large-scale enterprise data into scalable analytics products, actionable insights, and automated monitoring solutions that directly drive business value.
Job Description:
The Data Scientist II, Geospatial Analytics will design, build, and deploy advanced analytics solutions leveraging Geospatial tools and cloud-based platforms, translating complex business problems into data assets, insights, and automated analytics. This role combines strong technical expertise, analytical thinking, and business partnership to deliver measurable outcomes across operations and performance management.
Key Responsibilities include:
Develop and execute complex geospatial analyses using tools like Python, Databricks, PySpark, Alteryx, and GIS/ Power BI platforms
Extract, curate, and analyze large datasets to generate actionable insights
Design scalable, sustainable geospatial solutions for business use (e.g., branch/ATM network planning) that includes the application of advanced geospatial methodologies
Partner with business and data teams to deliver insights and solutions
Translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical frameworks and executive-ready narratives through visualization and mapping
Educate stakeholders on analytics methodologies, internal / external data resouces available
Provide data-driven recommendations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
Support team collaboration and cross-functional initiatives
Stay current on emerging tools, trends, and regulatory considerations
Maintain strong risk management and control practices aligned with organizational standards and regulatory considerations
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or advanced technical degree preferred (e.g., Geomatics, GIS, Geography, finance, or computer science).
Graduate degree preferred or progressive project work experience.
3+ years of relevant experience; higher degree education and research tenure can be counted.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
Ability to effectively work in teams across the bank with multiple stakeholders and to influence and align others.
Strong risk acumen – challenges the status quo and proactively manages risks.
Ability to work in ambiguity and simplify complex issues.
Strong work ethic and ability to execute with speed.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Python (including Pandas and others), Alteryx, SQL for writing complex queries, stored procedures, and data extraction
Experience with cloud-based data/services (i.e.Databricks, Azure) for large-scale data processing
Experience with DataMarts / Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
Advanced geospatial analysis methodologies and familiarity with ESRI suite: ArcGIS Pro / ArcGIS Desktop, Business Analyst, Network Analyst / Spatial Analyst modules and ESRI Enterprise (GIS platform integration)
Experience performing Customer behavior analysis (acquisition, purchase patterns, market trends)
Able to create Advanced data visualization, Geospatial mapping and spatial storytelling decks
Ability to translate complex analytics into executive-ready insights
Experience using Demographic, Segmentation (e.g., PRIZM), Retail, financial, and location-based datasets
