We’re looking for a Senior Manager, AI Experience to lead this shift within major divisions — someone who can translate strategy into practical execution, work shoulder-to-shoulder with teams, and ensure AI delivers measurable value at scale.

This is not a purely strategic role. It’s for someone who thrives as a player–coach — equally comfortable influencing senior leaders and rolling up their sleeves to shape delivery.

Importantly, this role is central to how Westpac scales AI responsibly and effectively.

Core responsibilities …

Partner with senior leaders to align divisional AI priorities with enterprise direction

Translate Group AI strategy into clear, actionable roadmaps

Identify where AI can unlock the most value across workflows and decisions

Collaborate directly with teams to prioritise high-value use cases

Move adoption beyond tools into better ways of working

Track and drive measurable outcomes (productivity, decision quality, risk reduction)

Define what “good” AI adoption looks like — and help teams get there

Embed trust, confidence, and meaningful usage across the division

Identify adoption risks early and address them pragmatically

Support safe, scalable rollout of advanced AI capabilities

Evaluate and embed use cases into real workflows

Ensure governance and guardrails are understood and applied

Coach leaders and teams to use AI effectively and responsibly

Shape clear, simple narratives connecting AI to business value

Build credibility through proximity to delivery and hands-on insight

Essential Ingredients for Success …

Advanced experience leading enterprise AI adoption or complex IT transformation initiatives

Strong change management and facilitation ability to translate strategy into execution — not just define it

Hands-on exposure to AI tools (e.g., Copilot, workflow automation, agent-based systems)

Highly developed IT literacy and business acumen

Solid understanding of how operational, governance and regulatory frameworks in complex organisations

Demonstrated experience influencing senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams at all levels

Passion for delivering practical, usable change with a default focus on CI and CX at every juncture
