About the role
Join the Cyber-DNS team at CIRA and play a key role in advancing Canada’s cybersecurity and DNS infrastructure! Our Cyber-DNS team is dedicated to protecting Canadians online by delivering cutting-edge solutions.
You'll help shape the next generation of CIRA's DNS platform, owning a portfolio that spans authoritative DNS for the .ca TLD, recursive resolution for Fortune 500s, schools, and municipalities, and the security and application products built on top of that infrastructure. That includes how organizations and consumers resolve names reliably, how DNS can be used to protect them, and how those capabilities connect into a broader security platform. You'll work at the intersection of backend systems and end-user experience.
Some of what you build will be deeply technical. Some of it will be about making complexity disappear for the people who depend on it. You'll work alongside engineers, vendors, and channel partners to translate what DNS infrastructure can do into products that are both powerful and accessible: from backend infrastructure that makes the internet work, to consumer-facing applications that protect Canadians from malicious websites.
CIRA operates one of the largest DNS networks in the world: TLD DNS for registry operators, authoritative anycast services for Registrars, ISPs and private industry and recursive resolvers that protect users against malicious and fake websites. DNS is the substrate the internet runs on, and at CIRA the platform isn't just resolution infrastructure; it's the data layer that powers internet performance at scale and a growing security product portfolio.
Part of your mandate is turning what that infrastructure sees into intelligence that drives better products, sharper security capabilities, and stronger partnerships. This includes extracting signal from query telemetry, threat data, performance metrics, and debug logs and making it useful.
You'll also own how this platform integrates into a broader ecosystem. That means understanding how DNS fits alongside XDR, firewalls, SIEMs, and threat intelligence platforms, keeping a sharp eye on what other organizations in the space are doing, and translating that into clear product positioning and integration decisions.
If you're excited about building a safe and secure internet for Canadians, this is the place for you.
Who you are:
You are an experienced product leader who operates confidently at the intersection of network infrastructure, technical operations, and customer needs. You've led complex products and can translate deep technical capabilities into clear, practical value for enterprise customers, consumers, and partners.
You bring a strong understanding of DNS, both recursive and authoritative, along with exposure to areas such as anycast architecture, threat feeds, or adjacent network infrastructure environments. While not expected to be an engineer, you’re comfortable engaging deeply with technical teams and building credibility quickly.
You know how to turn infrastructure data into product value. Whether it's threat intelligence, performance reporting, or operational debugging, you understand what DNS sees and what to do with it.
You are outcome-driven and partnership-minded, with experience managing vendor relationships where you don't control the roadmap. You know how to negotiate priorities, influence integration timelines, and make thoughtful build-versus-buy decisions.
You've shipped products used by real customers, not just infrastructure tooling. You understand the gap between what a backend system can do and what an end user actually needs. More importantly, you know how to close that gap through strong product thinking and execution.
You balance strategic thinking with execution, set clear direction, and build alignment among technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
What you’ll do:
Define, communicate and execute product roadmaps aligned with CIRA’s strategic priorities for cybersecurity products and services
Lead early-stage product discovery, platform evolution and decision-making for new cybersecurity capabilities, integrations and services
Define product requirements and success metrics informed by customer feedback, threat trends, market analysis and operational insights
Identify opportunities to leverage DNS technology to facilitate improved security for end users and business networks alike.
Work cross-functionally with engineering, security operations and partners to deliver secure, resilient and accessible product experiences
Balance long-term platform strategy with near-term delivery, helping teams make informed trade-offs in a fast-evolving threat landscape
Collaborate with channel partners, managed service providers and internal stakeholders to support product adoption and market expansion
Support go-to-market activities including product positioning, customer engagement and sales enablement for CIRA's DNS offerings
Support the sales cycle from customer engagement through to successful product implementation
Act as a subject matter expert, representing CIRA through customer engagements, webinars, conferences, trade shows and other industry events
What you bring:
5-8 years of experience in product management, ideally within DNS or network infrastructure
Strong understanding of DNS infrastructure, including anycast DNS and DNS firewalls
Strong understanding of how DNS plays a role in a broader security strategy
Experience in both infrastructure and B2B product management
Experience conducting user and market research and translating insights into scalable, customer-focused products and services
Experience writing detailed functional requirements and working closely with agile engineering teams
Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, including engineering, sales, operations and external partners
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to make and defend prioritization decisions in high-pressure environments
Experience owning a product P&L or contributing to pricing and packaging decisions
Willingness and ability to travel occasionally
