The Community You Will Join:

UDS (Unified Data Store) team’s mission is to provide a reliable, scalable, and global system-of-record storage infrastructure for all Airbnb. The team is responsible for building and operating the storage system that stores all the critical Airbnb user, listing and financial data.

With over 150 million Airbnb users and hosts around the world, reliability, scalability, efficiency, security and world class user experience are our team’s core tenets. As a member of this team you would be working with top latent engineers on a modern distributed database system. You will be the technological expert on data storage systems, high performance infrastructure service APIs, as well as provide guidance to Airbnb product teams on the effective use of technologies in large scale systems and performance optimization.

The Difference You Will Make:

Unified Data Access Gateway

Build and operate a highly performant, available, and scalable data access gateway that provides a simple and unified experience for accessing online product data, while all aspects of the implementation complexity such as storage, indices, data placement, replication, security and data lifecycle management would be abstracted away from the product developers.

Schema and Compliance

Empower and simplify the way engineers at Airbnb define and manage data by building and operating a generalized data schematization solution for a wide variety of storage backends at Airbnb and be able to satisfy broad compliance requirements. The end-to-end solution covers object relation model (ORM), schema definition, schema life-cycle management, and runtime schema discovery.

Your Expertise:

12+ years of relevant industry experience

Hands-on experience in building and operating large-scale distributed systems

Solid understanding of systems and infrastructure fundamentals

Ability to own and dive deeply in a complex code base

Knack for writing clean, readable, testable, maintainable code

Strong collaboration and communication skills in a remote-working environment

Ability to leverage cutting edge AI technologies to build world-class solutions

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

$244,000—$305,000 USD
