As a Databricks Data Engineer at Xebia, you work hands-on with modern data platforms, helping clients design, build, and scale Databricks solutions that support real business use cases. You understand what it takes to run data platforms in production; thinking about structure, scalability, and reliability from the start, not as an afterthought.
You’re comfortable working in existing environments. Not every client starts with a clean slate, and you know how to step into existing platforms, ask the right questions, and bring clarity and structure where it’s needed.
What you’ll do
As a Databricks Data Engineer, you will:
Design and build scalable data platforms using Databricks
Develop data pipelines using Spark (PySpark / Scala)
Apply the Databricks ecosystem in a way that actually works in production
Work with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS or GCP
You write code that holds up in production (Python, SQL)
Collaborate directly with clients on high-impact projects
Contribute to our internal knowledge sharing and community
Who you are
The Data Engineer role is a senior position integral to our teams, so we ask for at least 5 years of relevant work experience. That said, we’re always open to talent that stands out! If you have unique achievements, like contributing to open-source projects or founding your own startup, we encourage you to apply.
Besides this you have:
Hands-on experience with the Databricks ecosystem (Delta Lake, PySpark, SQL, etc)
Good coding skills that holds up in production (Python, SQL)
Experience with cloud
Familiarity with data modelling and ETL/ELT concepts
Strong communication skills in Dutch and English
Nice to have:
Databricks certifications (Data Engineer Associate, Professional etc.)
Databricks Champion status
Strong Spark background
