At CommBank, NetBank Next is remastering online banking for millions of customers, creating simple, brilliant digital experiences for focused moments on the big screen.
Join our NetBank Next crew as a Senior Product Designer and help shape the next generation of NetBank. You’ll play a key role in designing the core experiences customers rely on every day, from homepage and navigation, to accounts, payments, statements, search, profile and support .
Significant foundational work and strategic uplift initiatives are already underway, and this role will help build on that momentum. Taking existing transformation work forward while continuing to drive discovery, identify emerging customer needs, and shape meaningful feature and experience uplifts across the platform.
Our ambition is to modernise a 27 year old digital banking platform and create experiences that are easier, clearer and more useful for customers. You’ll work closely with product, engineering and design teams to solve complex problems, uplift legacy journeys and bring more consistent, trusted and customer centred experiences to life.
About the role
As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll be a design partner within a cross-functional Digital product team. You’ll help frame the right customer problems, shape product direction turn problems and opportunities into clear, polished and accessible digital experiences.
This role suits someone with excellent UX/UI craft, a strong product mindset, and experience conducting continuous customer discovery. We’re looking for a designer that can work through ambiguity, collaborate closely with Product and Engineering, and bring ideas to life from early concepts through to high-quality delivery.
Key responsibilities
Partner with Product and Engineering to shape product and experience direction, using customer evidence, business priorities and crew ambition to identify clear opportunities and practical next steps.
Apply systems thinking across channels to create consistent patterns, behaviours and interaction models, helping teams design experiences that feel connected, familiar and easy to use for customers.
Lead continuous discovery to understand customer needs, frame problems, test assumptions and establish early, frequent customer learning to guide product decisions.
Work as a senior design partner in the product trio, helping balance customer value, feasibility, viability, risk and experience quality.
Partner across adjacent value streams and lines of business to shape more connected digital and assisted journeys, reducing complexity for customers.
Rapidly translate insights into concepts, flows and prototypes, including AI-enabled and code-assisted prototypes with engineers, to test assumptions early and build confidence before delivery.
Design clear, intuitive and polished UX/UI, from low-fidelity exploration through to high-fidelity delivery, aligned to our design system, accessibility standards and broader digital experience patterns.
Model strong design practice in critiques and day-to-day ways of working, giving clear, constructive feedback and helping lift the quality of thinking, collaboration and delivery across the team.
Measure and improve experiences before and after launch, using qualitative and quantitative evidence to understand impact, iterate solutions and share reusable learnings.
What you’ll bring
7+ years’ experience designing complex digital products, services or platforms end-to-end in cross-functional product teams.
Excellent UX/UI and interaction design craft, with strong attention to detail and the ability to turn complex journeys into simple, accessible and polished interfaces.
Strong strategic design capability across UX, service and systems thinking, with the ability to connect detailed design decisions to broader customer and product goals.
Understanding of continuous discovery and customer research practices, with experience using early and frequent customer learning to guide decisions.
An AI-forward mindset, with experience using emerging tools and prototyping methods to accelerate exploration, learning and collaboration with engineers.
Strong facilitation, storytelling and influencing skills, including the ability to contribute strongly to design critiques, align stakeholders and improve team ways of working.
A portfolio that demonstrates high-quality craft, strategic thinking, customer insight and measurable outcomes.
