What’s the role?

This is an entry-level engineering role based in Sydney, working within our Identity as a Service (IDaaS) team.

You’ll support the technology that sits behind secure access to Westpac’s digital platforms, helping build and maintain authentication and identity solutions used across the organisation. The role is focused on backend engineering, with exposure to cloud and DevOps practices.

You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, learn how large-scale systems operate, and build your capability in identity engineering, one of the fastest growing areas in technology.

What do I need?

A foundation in backend engineering, ideally with Java or similar languages

Some hands-on experience building or supporting applications, whether through uni, internships or early work experience

An interest in how systems work behind the scenes, including APIs, authentication or security

Curiosity and a willingness to learn new technologies, especially in cloud or DevOps environments

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning and development
