About this opportunity:

Cenovus Energy is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Senior DCS Technologist to support the day-to-day operations of our Lloydminster downstream refining and upgrading assets. Working with DeltaV and Foxboro control systems, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by troubleshooting complex operational issues, supporting construction and commissioning activities, and contributing to major turnaround planning and execution.

This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area

This is a full-time employee position.

What you’ll do:

Provide day-to-day support, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting for Refinery and Upgrader DCS systems, including Foxboro and DeltaV platforms

Lead and support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities for capital projects, turnarounds, and plant modifications

Interpret and develop technical documentation including control narratives, alarm philosophies, loop drawings, P&IDs, and construction work packages

Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors to resolve complex process control and operational issues safely and efficiently

Participate in HAZOPs, LOPAs, Management of Change (MOC), and reliability planning initiatives to support safe and reliable operations

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, lifecycle planning, and modernization efforts to enhance DCS performance, reliability, and long-term sustainability

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

Legally authorized to work in Canada

Red Seal Journeyman Instrumentation Technician, Instrumentation Technologist, or completion of a related accredited Instrumentation diploma or degree program

Minimum 8+ years of relevant instrumentation and/or DCS experience within Oil & Gas refining or upgrading facilities

Strong working knowledge of industrial control systems, including DeltaV and/or Foxboro DCS platforms

Experience troubleshooting and maintaining process control and instrumentation systems in an operating industrial environment

Familiarity with CSA B149.3, AER Directive 017, and applicable industry standards is considered an asset

CET accreditation and field experience as an Instrumentation Technician are considered strong assets
