ABOUT THE JOB

As a Manufacturing Engineering Technician, you’ll play a critical part in ensuring production operations run smoothly and efficiently. Your primary responsibility will be responding to and resolving production system issues in real-time, leveraging your strong Linux knowledge and troubleshooting skills to unblock a plethora of problems ranging from networking to hardware connectivity on our Group 3 UAS platform: Altius. Working closely with our Production Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Software Engineering teams, you will focus on diagnosing problems, curating and documenting troubleshooting workflows, and escalating deeper technical challenges to engineering support.

This role combines on-the-ground technical troubleshooting, operational rigor, and proactive process improvement. You’ll act as the first line of defense for keeping production systems up and running, ensuring minimal downtime for critical manufacturing processes. Key to success in this role will be robust Linux systems expertise, strong communication, and strong collaboration skills. You’ll also have opportunities to impact long-term improvements by building tools, scripts, and documentation to streamline future troubleshooting efforts.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Provide hands-on, real-time technical support to resolve Linux-based production system issues.

Debug hardware, software, and networking faults using diagnostic tools like logs, network traffic analyzers (e.g., Wireshark)

Investigate and resolve recurring issues such as system bricking, connectivity problems, and compatibility errors

Develop, maintain, and curate documentation, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common problems

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate complex issues and drive systemic problem resolution

Use Bash/Python scripting to build lightweight tools and automate repetitive debugging tasks

Advocate for systems/process improvements, and communicate tooling needs to engineering teams responsible for long-term solutions

Support production technicians when systems become blocked and ensure seamless handoffs with second-line support (T2 escalation)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years of hands-on experience with Linux systems in a troubleshooting or support role.

Proficiency with Bash scripting/familiarity with Python

Strong understanding of diagnostic tools

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and triage hardware and software issues

Experience operating in high-pressure environments where uptime is critical (manufacturing, robotics, IoT, cloud systems, etc.)

Effective communication skills with the ability to distill technical findings into actionable plans for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a production or technical support setting

Willingness to work production hours and overtime as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with manufacturing or robotics systems with Linux-based deployments

Interest in automation devices, home electronics, or personal projects involving Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar technologies

Knowledge of hardware troubleshooting, including connectors, harnesses, and pin configurations

Experience documenting and curating detailed knowledge bases, workflow tools, or SOPs

Exposure to enterprise-scale systems, IoT devices, or environments with similar high-availability requirements

A passion for figuring out complex systems, diving deep into logs, and building tools to improve future workflows

Note: This position will be four 10-hour work shifts per week. Hours are 3:30pm - 2am, Monday -Thursday
