About the role

We are seeking a Senior Staff Enterprise Architect, Q2C & Monetization to drive the strategy, technical design, and modernization of our Quote-to-Revenue processes. This is a high-impact, hybrid role operating at the intersection of Enterprise Architecture strategy and pragmatic Solution Architecture execution.

Because we operate as a leaner, high-growth IT organization, this role requires a leader who can define the "big picture" strategy but also actively lead technical design and partner with delivery teams to unblock implementation. You will own the architecture for our monetization platforms, enabling scale for "MongoDB 3.0" by minimizing manual intervention and designing tools for continuous improvement. This role offers rare breadth: the ability to shape architecture across domains that larger organizations silo, with direct visibility to executive decision-making.

A critical component of this role involves Q2C and Financial transformation: You will be responsible for navigating the complex "buy vs. build" landscape of billing engines—specifically focusing on usage-based and consumption modeling—while ensuring our architecture acts as a catalyst for AI-driven business transformation.

We're looking to speak with candidates based in Palo Alto for our hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities

Q2C Strategy & Integration Roadmap

Define and execute the architecture strategy for consumption-based business models. You will lead critical decisions on whether to leverage custom-built billing solutions (leveraging MongoDB) or vendor platforms, ensuring the solution can handle high-volume usage metering and complex pricing logic

Define the integration strategy that binds the Q2C landscape. You will determine how "First Party" (internal product/usage data) and "Third Party" (CRM, CPQ, ERP) systems interoperate, moving us toward real-time data availability for Finance and Sales

Analyze cross-functional business processes to recommend new approaches via technology enablement, investigating operational requirements to seek effective solutions through automated and non-automated components

Systems Design & Integration Architecture

Design robust integration patterns (REST APIs, Event-Driven/Streaming, SOA) to decouple systems while ensuring data consistency. You will architect the flow of usage data from the MongoDB product platform into the billing engine and downstream to the General Ledger

Specify and design solutions across the Q2C landscape (CRM, CPQ, ERP). You will contribute to solution scoping, effort sizing, and strictly translate IT solutions into technical delivery consistent with standards

Define data ingestion and integration architectures that reduce availability latency. You will specify patterns (e.g., CDC, batch vs. real-time) that balance performance with cost, ensuring billing data is accurate and timely

Data, AI & Innovation

Define the AI architecture strategy for the revenue cycle, establishing the data foundations (golden records, vector search, RAG patterns) required before AI can deliver value. Own the roadmap for deploying AI capabilities — such as anomaly detection in billing, intelligent quoting assistants, and deal scoring — with clear sequencing from foundational data quality through to production deployment

Act as "Customer Zero" for internal technologies, identifying opportunities to deploy MongoDB Atlas and vector search capabilities within our own monetization technology stack

Governance, Standards & Risk Management

Define and maintain architecture principles, guardrails, and standards for the Q2C ecosystem, leading governance activities to ensure solutions align with the target state

Evaluate impact analyses on major projects (e.g., new pricing models), assessing associated risks to ensure solution delivery complies with enterprise security and SOX/GDPR standards

Team Leadership & Evangelism

Build architecture community of practice: host monthly deep-dives, share best practices, facilitate cross-team collaboration, and maintain a knowledge base

Serve as the senior technical authority across architecture disciplines — data, integration, solution, and AI — providing mentorship and design guidance to engineers and architects embedded across delivery teams, elevating architectural thinking organization-wide

Qualifications

15+ years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, with substantial senior-level experience in Enterprise Architecture and Solution Architecture

You must have 10+ years of experience designing complex, event-driven integrations using modern middleware, APIs, microservices, and data streaming technologies to connect high-volume usage engines with financial systems

Deep expertise in usage-based/consumption-based billing platforms. You must have proven experience navigating "buy vs. build" decisions for billing engines and understanding the trade-offs between custom implementations versus vendor solutions

Expertise in CPQ, Billing, and common go-to-market and finance business processes. Led architecture for large-scale implementations that delivered measurable business outcomes: CRM, Enterprise Data Platforms, Data Lakes, or ERP systems

Proven success in applying a structured approach to architecting innovative solutions, with a track record of supporting delivery teams through the full SDLC

Experience implementing or architecting data-intensive applications. Demonstrated experience architecting AI-integrated enterprise systems, including RAG patterns, vector search, and LLM integration with structured data pipelines

Experience managing vendor evaluations, contract negotiations, and ongoing partner relationships

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems analysis, or a related field; MS or advanced degree is preferred

Core Competencies

Leadership: Leads cross-functional teams through influence, navigates conflict, and drives results without direct authority

Communication: Translates complex technical concepts for executive and business audiences. Strong written, visual, and presentation skills

Financial & Analytical: Builds business cases with TCO analysis and ROI projections. Defines measurable success metrics

Change Management: Drives technology adoption while addressing stakeholder concerns and resistance

Technical Pragmatism: Cuts through vendor hype. Makes build vs. buy decisions grounded in business value and risk

Influence Without Authority: Shapes technical direction through credibility and collaboration, not mandate

Methodologies: Working knowledge of Agile, ITIL, and design thinking practices

Success Measures

Delivery of high-value Q2C technology use cases that improve operational efficiency and directly contribute to strategic business goals

Implementation of solutions that adhere to security, scalability, and observability standards, ensuring that cross-system integrations (Product to Cash) meet service quality requirements in production

Successful deployment of AI-driven capabilities within the quoting or billing process (e.g., reducing manual interventions or billing errors)

Reduce the time-to-quote and data availability latency for financial reporting through optimized architectural patterns
