About the role

Coast is re-imagining the trillion-dollar U.S. B2B card payments and expense management infrastructure, with a focus on the country’s 500,000 commercial fleets and 40 million commercial vehicles. Our platform gives vehicle fleets control, security, and real-time visibility into their spending. We started by building a fair, transparent charge card designed specifically for mobile fleet workers, owners, and managers. Our long-term vision is to build a holistic and smart financial services platform purpose-built for this industry. Design is central to making complex financial workflows simple, intuitive, and trustworthy for users in the field and at the office.

Coast is founded and led by Daniel Simon, who previously cofounded Bread (breadpayments.com), a leading payments and credit technology firm backed by some of the world’s top VCs which was acquired for $500M+ in 2020. The company has raised $165M in total funding — our recent $40M Series B equity round was led by ICONIQ Growth with participation from Thomvest, and Synchrony. We're also backed by top fintech and mobility venture funds, including Accel, Insight Partners, Better Tomorrow Ventures, Avid Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, BoxGroup, Foundation Capital, Greycroft, Colle, and premier angel investors, including: Max Levchin (Affirm), Josh Abramowitz (Bread), Jason Gardner (Marqeta), William Hockey (Plaid), Ryan Petersen (Flexport), and many others.

About the Role

As Product Manager, you will own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for one of Coast’s non-fuel spend products; expanding our platform beyond fuel into the broader universe of operational expenses, including expense management, accounts payable, reimbursements, and vendor payments. You will lead a cross-functional team of engineers and designers to build products that help fleet and field-based businesses move more of their day-to-day spend onto Coast in a way that is simpler, safer, and more trusted than existing solutions.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, curious about complex financial workflows, and motivated by turning messy, real-world problems into simple, intuitive products. You should be equally comfortable thinking at a systems level and getting hands-on, whether that’s pressure-testing a concept, prototyping a flow, or working closely with engineering to translate constraints into thoughtful product decisions.

Please note that this role will require you to be comfortable with working in-person at our NYC office at least 3.5 days/week on average.

What You’ll Do

Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a Coast product

Deeply understand and embody the voice of the customer

Drive high-velocity execution with a world-class team of engineers and designers, balancing principled intuition with data-driven decision making

Collaborate with sales, customer success and marketing to deliver a product and brand of high quality

Marry customer insights with technical possibilities, crafting intuitive user experiences that abstract away complexity

Prototype rapidly using tools like Cursor and Bolt to accelerate the product development lifecycle and fast-forward to production-ready products

Stay deeply plugged into AI research, industry trends, and emergent applications, filtering signal from noise and applying it creatively to Coast’s product

Contribute to the evolution of Coast’s product management practices as we scale AI across our platform

What You Bring

BA/BS in an analytical field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences) or equivalent technical experience

Minimum 4 years of product management or adjacent product-building experience

Strong customer empathy and design thinking

Passion for AI, shown through hands-on building, prototyping, or side projects, and staying current on research and tools

Fluency with core LLM concepts and systems, such as prompting, fine-tuning, embeddings, retrieval, and evaluation, and the judgment to translate these into reliable, user-facing products.

Fluency with modern prototyping tools (e.g. Cursor, Bolt, Claude Code) and comfort with design/collaboration environments like Figma and Git.

Fluency in data and experimentation, and understanding when the answer cannot be found in the data

Proven ability to lead small, cross-functional teams toward ambitious goals with urgency and agency

Ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences, synthesizing complex systems into compelling narratives

Excellent communication and storytelling skills

Nice-to-Haves
